The perilous journey these baby sea turtles make will leave you awestruck (or just saying “Awww”). Have you witnessed these wonderful creatures in the wild?
Every summer, national parks along the coast are home to a near-miraculous event that often goes unseen. When baby sea turtles emerge from the sand and make their first journey to the water, our national parks provide an essential safe haven for these endangered animals.
Sea turtle sightings happen often at Dry Tortugas National Park. The Dry Tortugas were originally named Las Tortugas by the explorer Juan Ponce de León, which means “The Turtles.”
At Gulf Islands National Seashore in Florida, students are working hard to conserve the endangered sea turtles that live there. Learning about and protecting the wildlife at national parks is a great way to #FindYourPark!
