“We recently traveled through the eastern portion of the Colorado Plateau on a camping trip with our daughters, ages 7 and 8, and Arches National Park was a highlight. The girls hiked with us to see Landscape Arch and the hike through the sand was a challenge for them. To get them excited about the hike back to the car, we told them it was a race – and whoever got there first could choose the next hike. I captured this moment as we got closer to the trail head and they got faster and faster. It really embodied why we have visited 25 National Parks and Monuments in the last 18 months, capturing their excitement (they ran everywhere!) with their red hair swinging as they raced through the red rocks under a beautiful blue sky."
